so....its been a while. work at the new place is great. i love it. i had a great christmas and new years with my family and friends. i will upload some pics when i get a chance.
anyways...on to the good stuff. i just got back from snowboarding in mammoth. it was my first time in a while out on a mountain doing anything related to snow. it was -11 degrees when we first arrived on friday night. it was brutal. saturday morning, the weather wasnt much wamrer during the day, which made all of my falling pretty painful. i didnt have a face mask, so my face and neck were getting worked. i eneded up picking up a mask on sunday, which was a life saver because the weather was overcast and even colder than the day before. so enough about the weather.
saturday was a rough day. i spent a lot of time on my knees and ass and have some bruises to prove it. i had a ton of fun though. i had to borrow a bunch of gear from my friends, but it worked out ok, except for this scratch i put on the bottom of the board from running over something nasty. hopefully its fixable without too much work. sunday was a much better day. i improved a bunch from the day before. i spent about 75% less time on my ass and much more time carving, or trying to at least. i have got most of the turning down, i just need to get comfortable with the speed associated with going straight down the hill. hopefully ill be able to get some more runs in this season either in mammoth or up at something locally.
so...here are some pics from my weekend trip:
Oh...and so on the way back, we stopped at manzanar. Pretty sobering. I can't imagine what it was like to live there. Here are some indoor shots from the museum.
The two pictures above from Manzanar. The first picture is a model of the camp itself. Pretty wild how big it is. Looks like you and Mia had a good time in Mammoth! Also thanks for the Rec Center link. Great choice! I think I am a bit biased. Love the blog. Thanks for sharing and yes blogging is a form of therapy!
